Three charged following raids on Bayfield Street, New Tecumseth

Search warrants yielded drugs, conducted energy weapon, body armour, say po

Numerous drug charges have been laid against three people after police raided residences and businesses Wednesday in New Tecumseth and Barrie.

While executing search warrants, police seized more than 60 grams of cocaine, fentanyl, more than 430 grams of khat, several items related to drug trafficking, more than 50 cartons of unmarked cigarettes, a conducted energy weapon, body armour, and two vehicles.

Chantel Rhoden, 27, of Alliston, has been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid other than heroin), and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000. 

Kashwayne Daley, 46, of Barrie, has been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of a Schedule 4 substance for the purpose of trafficking (khat), unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of cannabis for the purpose of distributing, and possession of unmarked cigarettes.

Alwayne Smart, 40, of Mississauga, has been charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking (opioid other than heroin), possession of a Schedule 4 substance for the purpose of trafficking (khat), and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The three accused were released from custody and have November court dates in Bradford.

“Due to the nature of the investigation, and to protect the integrity of the investigation, no other information will be released,” OPP stated in a news release.
