Two people are facing assault and weapon charges following an incident in downtown Orillia earlier this month.
Shortly after 11:20 p.m. on Nov. 6, Orillia OPP responded to a report of an altercation outside of an establishment on Mississaga Street, where police said a knife and brass knuckles were brandished.
Police located the suspects and seized the weapons.
Austin Barton, 21, of Orillia, has been charged with assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, failure to comply with a release order (other than to attend court), and breach of recognizance. He was held for a bail hearing Nov. 7.
Trenton Sharp, 22, of Orillia, has been charged with assault with a weapon and two counts each of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of a prohibited device. He was released on an undertaking and has a Dec. 12 court date in Orillia.
