Local pair charged in drug-trafficking investigation: OPP

While searching two homes, police say officers seized methamphetamine, fentanyl, heroin and oxycodone

Two Essa Township residents face numerous charges in connection to a drug-trafficking investigation in Angus. 

Shortly before 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, officers with the Nottawasaga OPP community street crimes unit, along with similar units out of the Caledon and Dufferin detachments, executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances search warrant on two residences on Mill Street.

As a result of the investigation, police say officers seized approximately 34.3 grams of methamphetamine, 94 fentanyl pills, 1.7 grams of purple fentanyl, one gram of heroin, four oxycodone pills, and six syringes with an unknown liquid.

Two people have been arrested and charged. 

Jason Guergis, 49, and Kaitlyn Ellis, 31, both of Essa Township, have been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (heroin)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (meth)
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (oxycodone)
  • Traffic in Schedule 1 substance (heroin)
  • Traffic in Schedule 1 substance (crystal meth)
  • Traffic in Schedule 1 substance (opioid other than heroin)
  • Traffic in Schedule 1 substance (opioid other than heroin)
  • Traffic in Schedule 1 substance (cocaine)

Both of the accused are scheduled to appear in Bradford court on March 14, 2024.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
