Two Barrie men face child-pornography charges following an investigation by city police dating back to last summer.

On July 20, 2023, Barrie police say members of the Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE) executed a Criminal Code search warrant which resulted in the seizure of several computer devices.

As a result of the ongoing investigation, a 27-year-old Barrie man was arrested on Feb. 8, 2024. He has been charged with accessing child pornography and possession of child pornography.

The same investigation also led to a 31-year-old Barrie man being arrested and charged for the same offences on Feb. 1, 2024.

"Both accused used the internet to access and upload images of child pornography," Barrie police stated in a news release Wednesday. "They were both held for bail and were released with several conditions and a future court date."

No names were released.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.

Police say this investigation was made possible by a grant from the Ministry of the Solicitor General.
