Washago man charged with impaired following two-vehicle crash

Despite heavy snowfall amid storm, OPP were kept busy and arrested three drivers on impaired-related charges

Bracebridge Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged three drivers with impaired driving-related offences during the major weather event and subsequent clean up between Dec. 24 - 28, 2022

On Saturday Dec. 24, 2022 just after 10:30 p.m. in the midst of heavy snow fall an officer stopped to assist a motorist who had lodged his vehicle in a snowbank on Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge and was obstructing traffic. Police subsequently arrested and charged 31-year-old Liam Dursley-Radford of Bracebridge with operation while impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Jan. 31, 2023 to answer to his charges.

On Tuesday Dec. 27, 2022 at 5:45 p.m. police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Ecclestone Drive in Bracebridge after motorists reported seeing a pick-up truck lose control and strike another. Officers arrived, entered into an investigation of the collision and subsequently arrested and charged 36-year-old Bryan Campbell of Washago with operation while impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Jan. 17, 2023 to answer to his charges.

On Wednesday Dec. 28, 2022 just before 6 p.m. police, along with Muskoka EMS, responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11 South just north of Taylor Road in Bracebridge after a vehicle left the roadway and flipped, coming to rest in the ditch.

Officers arrived and were able to free the driver, who was assessed at scene by paramedics. Police subsequently arrested and charged 34-year-old Donald Austin of Bracebridge with operation while impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). He will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge, ON on Jan. 24, 2023 to answer to his charges.

Bracebridge OPP also responded to concerns from members of the public about a motorist who was parked at an intersection, not moving, on Wharf Road in Bracebridge on Jan. 1, 2023 just before 12:15 a.m.

Officers arrived quickly and subsequently arrested and charged 52-year-old Amy Snow of Bracebridge with operation while impaired CC 320.14(1)(a) and over 80 CC 320.14(1)(b). She will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Bracebridge on Jan. 17, 2023 to answer to her charges.

In all cases where impaired driving charges are laid, the accused's drivers' licence is suspended for 90 days and their vehicle is impounded.
