A Washago man is facing an impaired driving-related charge after police say he tried to avoid a RIDE check Friday.
Shortly after midnight, police were conducting RIDE checks in Washago when a driver tried to bypass it by cutting through a parking lot, according to an Orillia OPP news release. The driver was pulled over shortly after and was arrested.
Tyler Burnie, 24, has been charged with operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus).
The accused has a January court date in Orillia.
His driver’s licence will be suspended for 90 days and his vehicle will be impounded for seven days.
