Weapon, drug charges laid after driver flees Orillia OPP

Orillia OPP seized drugs and a gun from a vehicle after the driver fled police Thursday.

Two people are facing numerous drug and weapon charges after allegedly fleeing police Thursday in Oro-Medonte.

Orillia OPP officers were conducting patrols for traffic violations on Highway 11 South when, shortly after 11 a.m., they tried to stop a vehicle. The driver fled, and the vehicle was later located on Highway 400 South at Innisfil Beach Road after it was involved in a collision.

Police seized cocaine, opioids, a prohibited firearm, and ammunition.

Mose Aigbedion, 27, of Etobicoke, has been charged with flight from a peace officer, dangerous operation, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts), possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition (three counts), possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine), and possession of a Schedule 1 substance (opioid).

Nawal Mohamed, 25, of Fort Erie, has been charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, unauthorized possession of a firearm (two counts), possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of a loaded prohibited firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of a firearm, careless storage of a firearm and ammunition, possession of a prohibited device or ammunition, possession of a Schedule 1 substance (cocaine), and possession of a Schedule 1 substance (opioid).

The accused are set to appear Friday in Orillia court.
