A Bala resident has been charged with impaired driving after being pulled over on Highway 400 Sunday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police say an officer was patrolling the highway at around 10 a.m. when Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) alerted them about a potentially suspended driver behind the wheel of an SUV.

When the officer spoke with the driver, an impaired driving investigation was launched.

As a result, 44-year-old Stephanie Coeck has been charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), along with driving while under suspension.

In addition, her licence was suspended for 90 days and the vehicle was impounded for a week.

The accused is scheduled to appear in court on March 14.
