Woman facing impaired by drug charges after fleeing collision: police

HALDIMAND COUNTY - The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Haldimand County Detachment has charged a 35-year-old driver with impaired driving following a collision investigation on Main Street West in Dunnville, Haldimand County, Ont.

On Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2020 at 7:06 p.m., OPP responded to Main Street West for a report of a collision. A witness reported seeing the driver fleeing from the scene on foot.

Police located an individual a short distance away matching the description provided by a witness.

OPP investigation determined the individual located was the driver of the vehicle involved that struck an unoccupied vehicle.

While officers spoke with the driver, signs of impairment were detected and the driver was arrested.

Further investigation by an OPP drug recognition evaluator determined the driver was impaired by drug.

OPP has charged 35-year-old Tammy Carson of Collingwood, Ont. with:
    •    Impaired operation of a motor vehicle

The accused is to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga at a later date to answer to the charge.

During the investigation, officers located the registered owner of the vehicle involved in the collision and revealed they were in violation of multiple court orders.

As a result, OPP has also charged 32-year-old Travis Moore of Barrie, Ont. with:
    •    Fail to comply with a release order
    •    Fail to comply with a probation order (5 counts)

The accused was held for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Cayuga.
