Postcard Memories is a weekly series of historic postcard views and photos submitted by Marcel Rousseau.

Some were previously published by the Orillia Museum of Art and History and in the book Postcard Memories Orillia.

The Lovering Post Office was located on the W.D. Lovering Jr. Farm north of Coldwater near the Upper Big Chute Road on Lovering Line.

Opened in 1877, Mr. Lovering resigned his position in 1886. E. W. Kitchen was postmaster starting in 1886 until his death in 1917. His daughter, Maggie, held the position for the next four months until taken over by Miss Hattie M. Leach in June 1918. Miss Leach was postmaster for one year.

Jacob R. Gill became postmaster in July of 1919 and resigned one year later, ending 43 years of postal service at this location.

This photo taken around 1910 shows the Kitchen family and friends with names listed on back: Dudley, Irwin Gill, Nolee Wilson, Dudley S., Maggie, Gerald, Edmund, Flo, Liz, Jen, Kathleen, Guy, Muriel, Stan L. Jack, Jessie, Hilda, Emily, Lottie, Jean, Arnold, and George. Mr. and Mrs. Edmond Kitchen are seated in front next to Lottie Kitchen with her dog, Nick, at her feet.
