This year's Soldiers' 22nd Annual Gala, Cirque Under the Stars, is all about magic and whimsy. Guests will feel as if they’re enjoying a whimsical circus under the stars, all while raising funds for the hospital and supporting their community.

Senior Annual Giving Officer Heather Saba says the event provides an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate their support of one another with cirque-style entertainment, including aerialists, and decor, food and drinks themed to fit the occasion

The Gala will take place at the Casino Rama Resort Entertainment Centre, allowing for twice the number of attendees than previous years, Saba explains.

“We are excited to bring together so many more community members, and we're always filled with gratitude for their generosity in supporting the hospital,” she says. “Through the support of our sponsors and donors, we are looking forward to another successful event.”

With more than 30 beds at the end of their lifespan at the Orillia Soldiers Memorial Hospital (OSMH), the money raised by the Gala will support the purchase of new smart beds for the hospital, providing patients with a safer and more comfortable experience.

“The Centrella Smart+ Beds that we are fundraising for offer improved patient safety features, including fall prevention, pressure injury prevention, real-time incontinence detection and respiratory monitoring,” Saba explains.

“The impact that the gala leaves in the Hospital for patients and their families, whether from new equipment, like the beds we're fundraising for this year, education for staff or upgrades and advancements to technology, the whole community is going to benefit from that at some point and this is a fun and exciting way to make that happen.”

Saba adds that the silent auction is now open and available to the entire community online — a great way to support Soldiers, especially for those unable to attend the Gala. To start bidding on the online auction, click Here.
