An ambulance sustained extensive damage after it struck a guard rail on the off ramp of Highway 400 at Innisfil Beach Road.

No patients were on board when an ambulance hit a guardrail on a highway off-ramp this morning.

The incident occurred early Wednesday morning on the off-ramp of Highway 400 at Innisfil Beach Road while responding to a “low acuity 911 call” said Shane Smith, deputy chief of logistics with the County of Simcoe Paramedic Services.

“The ambulance collided with a guardrail in a construction zone. There were no patients on board and there were no injuries reported by the paramedics,” noted Smith, adding another ambulance was dispatched to respond to the original 911 call.

Sgt. Kerry Schmidt, with the Ontario Provincial Police Highway Safety Division, confirmed the incident did not include any other vehicles.
