Emergency crews responded to a car fire in the city’s north end last night, which was quickly brought under control by firefighters.

Barrie police received the call at 7:31 p.m. on Thursday, and discovered a fully engulfed vehicle on Glenwood Drive.

“The individual was operating his vehicle, and it caught fire,” Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon told BarrieToday on Friday morning.

“Nothing suspicious, although, as it turned out in the end, he was a suspended driver and was charged with driving under suspension, by police,” he added.
