Charges pending in fatal motorcycle crash: police

Barrie police say charges are pending in relation to a fatal motorcycle crash that killed a 56-year-old local man Wednesday evening. 

Police allege the driver of the other vehicle turned in front of the motorcycle at Innisfil and John streets. 

Emergency crews responded to the scene after the call came in at 5:08 p.m., Aug. 2.

Traffic unit investigators say the motorcycle driver was heading northbound on Innisfil Street when a southbound vehicle, which was turning left onto John Street, drove into his path.

"The resulting collision caused the motorcycle operator to be thrown from his motorcycle and, as a result, he sustained fatal injuries," police stated in a news release Thursday morning. 

The area around Innisfil and John streets remained closed until shortly after 9:30 p.m.

Police say the investigation is ongoing and charges are pending.
