City police responded to a single-vehicle collision on Fox Run in the city’s west-end on Sunday afternoon, and charged the driver with driving while impaired by a drug.

Police were notified at 11:09 p.m. on Feb. 4, and, upon arriving at the scene, found the vehicle against a tree in the front lawn of a home, where it landed after leaving the road and striking an electrical transformer.

“The driver, a 46-year-old woman from Barrie, was arrested at the scene and transported to Barrie police headquarters where she was interviewed by a qualified drug recognition evaluator who determined that she was operating her motor vehicle while impaired by drug,” Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said in a statement released this morning.

She was charged with operating while impaired, and possession of cocaine. She was later released from custody.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice located in Barrie on Feb. 21.

“The motor vehicle that the accused was operating at the time of the collision has been impounded for seven days, and her licence has been suspended for 90 days,” Leon stated.
