A St. Catharines man has been charged with child luring after police received a tip from Simcoe Muskoka Family Connexions.

Huronia West OPP began an investigation Oct. 26, when someone from the child and youth services agency “became aware of a youth being lured over the internet by an adult,” police said in a news release.

“During the online interactions, investigations discovered numerous messages of (a) sexual nature being sent by the accused to the youth.”

On Tuesday, a search warrant was executed in St. Catharines and electronic devices were seized.

Thomas Brown, 52, has been charged with three counts of luring a person under 16 years of age by means of telecommunication and two counts of failure to comply with prohibition regarding children.

The accused is being held in custody pending a court appearance.
