Man charged with impaired driving, fleeing police on Hwy. 400

A Severn Township man is facing several charges including impaired driving and flight from police after an incident early Sunday morning.

Ontario Provincial Police officers were in the area of Highway 400 and Mount Saint Louis Road for an investigation.

OPP have said all Highway 400 lanes were closed between Highway 93 and Moonstone Road East for an "ongoing investigation."

At around midnight, they say a vehicle sped through their investigation area.

When they chased after it, the driver didn’t stop. They were eventually able to get the vehicle to pull over, but say the people inside jumped out and ran off.

A York Regional Police helicopter was called in to help track down the occupants.

When they were found, OPP say the driver showed signs of alcohol consumption.

Brody Bull, 28, has been charged with:

  • Operation while impaired- alcohol and drugs
  • Operation while impaired- blood alcohol concentration 80 plus 
  • Flight from peace officer 
  • Dangerous operation 
  • Taking a motor vehicle without consent 
  • Driving on closed highway 
  • Driving while under suspension 

The accused has been released from custody and will appear in court at a future date. 

His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle has been impounded for a week.

Anyone who suspects an impaired driver is asked to call 911.
