Barrie police try to revive a man after being pulled from Kempenfelt Bay in downtown Barrie early this morning. Emergency crews responded to the call shortly after 2 a.m. after the man was reported to be in the water near the government docks. He was later pronounced dead.

A man was pronounced dead after being pulled from Kempenfelt Bay in downtown Barrie early this morning.

Emergency crews responded to the call shortly after 2 a.m. after the man was reported to be in the water near the government docks.

“He was removed from the icy waters, life saving efforts were commenced, and he was transported to a local hospital,” Barrie police said in a statement on X (formerly Twitter).

Efforts to revive the man were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead.

Police say the investigation is continuing, with no additional information available to the public at this time.

Anyone with video from the area of Lakeshore Drive and Bayfield Street prior to 2 a.m. this morning is asked to call police.
