A scary wake-up call for a north-end Barrie family has led to one man being charged with trespassing and drug possession.

City police received a call at 4:21 a.m., Monday, for an intruder at a residence on Buggs Gate, near Georgian Drive and Penetanguishene Road, where a man had entered the home while the family was sleeping.

Barrie police communications co-ordinator Peter Leon said there were no injuries and a member of the family subdued the man until police arrived.

Jessy Currie, 30, of Barrie, has been charged with trespass at night under the Criminal Code and possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act. He is scheduled to appear in court May 3.

None of the allegations have been tested in court.
