One dead after vehicle enters Lake Simcoe in Oro-Medonte

Smiths Falls man died in collision, while Mississauga man sustained non-life-threatening injuries

A man has died and another was injured after a vehicle entered Lake Simcoe in Oro-Medonte on Friday night.

At about 11:45 p.m., emergency crews responded to the area of Line 7 and Lake Simcoe, where a passenger vehicle entered the lake, Orillia OPP said in a news release.

A member of the public was able to remove one person from the vehicle. Police arrived soon after, removed the second person and performed first aid.

A Mississauga man was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A Smiths Falls man was also taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they are not releasing any further information at this time.
