Orillia OPP charges six with impaired driving in two weeks

Orillia OPP officers have charged six people with impaired driving-related offences in two weeks.

On Jan. 27, at about 8 p.m., police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 12 in Orillia. A driver was “displaying numerous signs of alcohol consumption,” according to a news release. Felicia Mezzanotte, 36, of Quebec, was charged with operation while impaired (alcohol), failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and driving with cannabis readily available.

At about 2:30 a.m. Jan. 29, police were called to the scene of a single-vehicle collision on Highway 11 North in Oro-Medonte. Matthew Watson, 18, of Dundas, was charged with operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus), being a young driver with a blood-alcohol concentration above zero, failure to surrender a licence, driving with an open container of liquor, failure to surrender an insurance card, and driving with cannabis readily available.

Shortly before 4 a.m. Feb. 2, officers responded to a single-vehicle crash on Highway 11 South in Severn. Brandon Ainsworth, 26, of Ramara, has been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol), and operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus).

On Feb. 3 at about 10 a.m., police responded to a two-vehicle collision on Highway 11 North in Springwater. Ivan Kukushkin, 30, of Toronto, has been charged with operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus).

On Feb. 4 at about 8:30 p.m., officers patrolling in the area of County Road 47 in Ramara noticed a Highway Traffic Act offence. David Gartner, 63, of Ramara, was charged with operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus).

On Feb. 5 at about 4 a.m., police responded to a traffic complaint on Highway 12 in Orillia. David Toffan, 37, of Orillia, has been charged with operation while impaired (alcohol), operation while impaired (blood-alcohol concentration 80-plus), failure to comply with a probation order, and driving while under suspension.
