Pedestrian dies in Kawartha Lakes crash

CITY OF KAWARTHA LAKES - On Oct. 5, 2019, members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) and emergency crews were called to assist at a serious collision on Kawartha Lakes Road 121 shortly before 8:30 p.m. 

A vehicle driving northbound on Kawartha Lakes Road 121 near Fenelon Falls struck a pedestrian on the roadway. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and called for assistance. 

The 41-year-old pedestrian died at the scene of the collision. A post mortem examination has been ordered and will be conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Services building in Toronto. 

The name of the victim is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin. 

Kawartha Lakes Road 121 remained closed for several hours while OPP members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The circumstances surrounding this cause of the collision remain under investigation.
