Police seize more than $300K in drugs; Gravenhurst man charged

Numerous charges laid against three people following investigation that began earlier this year

Police seized drugs, cash and other items while executing search warrants in Bracebridge and Toronto this week.

Three people are facing charges as part of an investigation that began earlier this year into drug trafficking in Muskoka.

On Wednesday and Thursday, police executed five search warrants — two in Bracebridge and three in Toronto — and seized fentanyl, cocaine, crack cocaine, methamphetamine, prescription medications, a “large quantity” of cash, and drug trafficking paraphernalia, Bracebridge OPP said in a news release.

The estimated street value of the drugs seized is more than $300,000. 

Daniel Shemar Johnson, 24, of Toronto, has been charged with four counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, four counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and two counts of possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

Abria Atkinson, 23, of Toronto, has been charged with two counts of possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, one count of possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a Schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking, and one count of possession of proceeds obtained by crime under $5,000.

Jerrett Dirk, 43, of Gravenhurst, has been charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, and failing to comply with a release order.

Johnson was held in custody for a bail hearing that took place Wednesday in Bracebridge. He was released from custody and is set to return to court April 23. 

Atkinson and Dirk were released from custody and also have an April 23 court date in Bracebridge.
