Ramara Township man nabbed up north with car stolen in Orillia

The 40-year-old man from Ramara Township is facing two charges after OPP investigated a traffic complaint in Almaguin Highlands area

On Saturday, Aug. 22, 2021 at approximately 4:15 p.m., members of the Almaguin Highlands Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for a traffic complaint on Highway 520.

A query of the vehicle's licence plate revealed the vehicle was stolen earlier that day from Orillia. Police located the vehicle and driver on Gordon Road. 

As a result of the police investigation, Samuel Salisbury, 40 years of age, of Ramara Township, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC), and
  • Fail to comply with Probation Order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC - 2 counts.

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in Ontario Court of Justice on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021 in Sundridge.
