The Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested a Toronto man in connection with drug trafficking in the City of Orillia.

On March 29, 2019, members of the Orillia OPP with the Orillia Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) conducted a traffic stop on Davey Drive in Orillia. As a result of a short investigation police, were able to seize a quantity of cocaine, cash, and a handgun.

As a result of the traffic stop, police have charged 18-year-old Hamze Adan of Toronto with:
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance contrary to Section 4(1) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
    •    Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking contrary to Section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
    •    Two counts of possession of property obtained by crime contrary to Section 355(b) of the Criminal Code.
    •    Carrying of a concealed weapon contrary to Section 90 of the Criminal Code.
    •    Possession of a prohibited weapon or device contrary to Section 92(2) of the Criminal Code.
    •    Occupant of a motor vehicle knowing there was a prohibited or restricted weapon contrary to Section 94 of the Criminal Code.
    •    Possession of a firearm or prohibited weapon obtained by crime contrary to Section 96(a) of the Criminal Code.
    •    Careless storage of a firearm contrary to Section 86(1) of the Criminal Code.
    •    Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to Section 88 of the Criminal Code.
    •    Unauthorized possession of a firearm contrary to Section 91(1) of the Criminal Code.
    •    Unauthorized possession of a weapon contrary to Section 92(2) of the Criminal Code.
    •    Possession of a loaded prohibited or restricted firearm contrary to Section 95(a) of the Criminal Code.

The accused was held in custody and (appeared) on April 1, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Barrie for a bail hearing.
