A Barrie resident is facing impaired driving charges following a single-vehicle collision Tuesday.

Shortly before 7 a.m., Orillia OPP officers responded to the report of a vehicle in a ditch on Bay Street in Oro-Medonte Township.

When they arrived, “the driver and a passenger were observed to be collecting their belongings attempting to leave the area and were believed to be intoxicated,” police noted in a news release.

Police located the two and arrested the driver.

The accused was released on an undertaking and has an Aug. 30 court date in Orillia.

The vehicle was impounded for seven days and the driver was issued a 90-day driver’s licence suspension.
