MIDLAND,ON - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with our community partners a kicked off the annual Festive RIDE program in North Simcoe on Dec. 13, 2019.

Concluding on Jan. 6, 2020 local OPP officers have initiated 100 RIDE check stops on area roadways checking 3,450 vehicles and operators in an effort to Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) with 32 drivers providing samples into Roadside Screening Devices at the various locations.

Four drivers have had their driving privileges suspended for three days or more under the conditions of the Administrative Drivers Licence Suspension (ADLS) as a result of "Alert" reading on the Roadside Screening Device.

Participating OPP officers and our community partners - Safe and Sober Awareness Committee and MADD Canada would like to thank the drivers checked at those RIDE check stops for making the right choice before getting behind the wheel this festive season.
