OPP seek suspect who failed to stop for police

ORILLIA - On May 22, 2018 at approximately 12:50 a.m. the Orillia Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) attempted to stop a vehicle in the City of Orillia.

Information was passed on from Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) of a vehicle which failed to stop for them. The vehicle was spotted on Highway 12 in the Orillia OPP detachment area. Officers followed the vehicle for a short period and attempted a traffic stop; however, the vehicle once again failed to stop for officers.

Police discontinued their efforts to stop the vehicle. A short while later the vehicle struck a telephone pole at West Street and Colborne Street; the driver fled the scene.

After a short foot pursuit Central Region Canine (K9) and Central Region Emergency Response Team (ERT) were called in to assist in searching for the driver of the vehicle. The male is still at large and police are continuing their investigation.
