'Serious' early-morning collision claims life of area man: OPP

Southern Georgian Bay OPP are investigating a serious collision that occurred earlier today, forcing the closure of County Road. 6 in Tiny Township.

A 47-year-old area man was killed in a "serious collision" early this morning.

Jason Cowan, 47, of Tiny Township — the lone occupant of the only vehicle involved in the crash — died from injuries sustained in the incident that occurred Sunday morning.

The investigation is ongoing and no charges have been laid, say Southern Georgian Bay OPP.

Just after 4 a.m., the OPP was alerted to a vehicle in the ditch in the area of County Road 6 between Concession 14 and Concession 15 of Tiny Township.

Paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Simcoe County Road 6 in Tiny Township was closed for several hours but has now been reopened.
