Tay Township man charged with sexual assault

Complainant told police she and another family member were assaulted by a man known to them after he unlawfully entered the apartment

TAY TOWNSHIP - Members of the Southern Georgian Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were dispatched to a report of a break and enter in progress at 5:30 a.m. August 18, 2019 to a Poplar Avenue, Tay Township residence. Upon arrival of the officers, the caller complained that she and another family member had been assaulted by a known male after he unlawfully entered her apartment.

Attending officers located the male suspect and have completed their investigation resulting in the following Criminal Code of Canada offences for Dylan Murley, 23 years of Tay Township:
    •    break, enter a place - commit indictable offence
    •    sexual assault
    •    two counts of mischief under $ 5,000
    •    assault with a weapon
    •    uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
    •    theft under $5,000
    •    possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine - contrary to the Controlled Substances and Drug Act

The accused was held for bail and has been since released and is to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 19, 2019 in Midland.
